1. Where did you grow up?
McAllen, Tx. about 30 minutes from Mexico, and 1.5 hrs from South Padre Island.
2. Do you consider your childhood a happy one?
Maybe at the time i didn't, but i do now. i didn't have the perfect family, my parents divorced when i was two, but i still had a wonderful loving father and amazing sisters that really stepped up to give me a good upbringing. i am so thankful for my family.
3. Do you have any siblings?
three older sisters. Diana, Laura and Brenda. you could say we are all kind of scattered, Diana lives in san diego with her husband and two kids, and brenda lives by her lonesome in washington. laura lives in the same city, about 10 minutes from me. they have all grown up to be beautiful women and i really love them so much.
4. Who did you think was the smartest person in the world?
my oldest sister, diana. seriously. i took a lot of honors courses and anytime i had a new teacher they would always expect so much of me because they had had my sister in their classes before.
5. Did you ever run away from home?
not that i remember. but i do remember threatening to leave a few times to go stay with my mom instead of my dad. i was really a horrible child sometimes.
6. What about being a child do you miss the most?
no responsibility! it was seriously the life.
7. Where did your family go on vacation?
as a child we would mostly travel through mexico. i don't remember it too much though. i wish i did. my family travels more now though. weird. haha.
8. What is something you really wish you hadn't started earlier in life?
credit! seriously, y'all. credit is the devil.
9. Did you have any serious accidents or illnesses as a child?
i remember my dad saying i was almost run over by a car when i was really young. and in grade 7 i broke my pinky. haha. does age 18 count too? cause i was hospitalized for about a month for pneumonia at that age.
10. Did you have any nicknames?
all the horrible ones you could think of that rhymed with my name. yep, all of them. and ms. piggie because i was a very chubby child.
11. Name 5 school days accomplishments.
-i was in gifted talented courses since elementary school.
-in grade 4 i was part of a science team that built a car and raced it in a competition.
-i almost got a perfect score on my math exit exam (TAAS?) scores. missed it by one! :(
-i got several solo & ensemble awards for singing in grades 7&8.
-i excelled at math. i went up to the highest level (calculus 1) by grade 11.
12. What stories have been told about yourself as a baby?
horrible ones. haha. my favorite ones involve food. as a child i haaated veggies (what child didn't?) and i was a very picky eater. my sisters always tell me stories of how i would hide my food around the house because i did not want to eat it. oh, and i would pretend to be throwing up/gag when i didn't like something. hahah. i was so bad, huh?
13. Did religion/church play a part in your childhood social activities?
YESSS! i was raised seventh day adventist, and we would always have to observe the sabbath. we weren't allowed to watch tv/listen to music/play with friends/etc. saturdays (technically, since friday sundown) i remember our weekends being soo boring.
14. What objects do you remember from your childhood?
i don't remember too many that were "mine". i remember creepy toys more, weird huh? like my sister's stuffed bear that she claimed was satanic. hahah. being the 4th child i pretty much got toys handed down.
15. What was the number of students in your graduating class?
i want to say 400+. almost five hundred.
16. What is one thing that you never did in high school that you wish you would have done?
join the choir. i liked it so much but didn't think much of it when i didn't join in grade 9. now i feel like my voice is horrible.
17. Did you go to college and what was your major?
i went to college in '05 for a year with a major in journalism (minor in political science) but wasn't much interested at the time so i was out for about almost 4 years. i finally went back a year ago and changed my major to a double major in mathematics and journalism. i only need one more year! i'm really proud of myself.
18. What was the funniest thing someone wrote in your yearbook?
i don't remember letting anyone write in my yearbooks. since i was on the yearbook staff, i was very anal about wanting to keep something i worked on intact. :x
19. How has your hometown changed since you were a kid?
it has definitely grown. lots of new shopping centers, commercial spaces, housing. the traffic now is almost unbearable.
20. If you could go back and tell your younger self anything, what would it be?
quit being a brat to your family, they are the sole reason you will be who you are when you grow up.
